Are face masks required?
Face masks are required at all times while on any and all farms. The only time a face mask is not required is while you are sitting down at a table to eat or drink.
Do I have to have a face mask on even if I am socially distant?
You must have a face mask on at all times even if you are socially distant. This is done to protect all guests and our staff.
What are you doing to prevent the spread of COVID-19?
All of our corn mazes have wider rows to prepare for social distancing. We are sanitizing all surfaces with Sanidate 5.0
frequently throughout the day. We have security enforcing face masks and social distancing. We spaced out all seating in our courtyards and throughout the farm to be socially distant. There are hand washing and hand sanitizing stations throughout every farm.
Do you accept reservations?
We do not accept reservations for any of our locations. Entry to any location is first come first serve.
Can I purchase tickets in advance or purchase tickets online?
We do not sell any tickets in advance for any of our locations or events. We also do not sell tickets online. All tickets and admissions can be purchased when you arrive at the location you are visiting. All admissions and entry are first come first serve.
When are you open?
Harbes Family Farm in Mattituck, home of our farmstand, Barnyard Adventure & Wine Tasting Barn, is open daily from May through October. The Wine Barn is open November weekends and the Barnyard Adventure is open November weekends WEATHER PERMITTING. We recommend checking our website or social media for updates. Harbes Orchard is open Labor Day weekend through October. Harbes Farms Jamesport is open weekends in September & October.
Which locations require an entry fee?
General Admission (which includes apple picking) is required to enter the Orchard (children 2 and under are FREE, but do not receive a bag for apple picking. The Orchard is located at 5698 Sound Ave, Riverhead, NY 11901, and is open the first weekend in September through November 1st. The Barnyard Adventure, located at Harbes Family Farm at 715 Sound Ave. Mattituck, NY 11952 is an admission-based area of the farm.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash and all major credit cards. We prefer card payments at this time.
Do you have pick-your-own berries or vegetables?
No, we don’t. However, Patty’s Berries & Bunches is located across from our Mattituck location at 715 Sound Avenue. Patty offers berry picking June – October. Refer to her website for seasonal availability.
What is the parking situation?
Parking is FREE at all of our locations. We recommend arriving EARLY for the best parking and availability.
We do not permit buses, limos, or drop-offs at any of our locations.
What if it rains?
All farm activities are weather dependent. In the case of inclement weather, we may need to close. Updates will be provided on our website homepage. You may also check our Facebook page

When is the best time to visit the farm?
For pumpkin picking, typically the earlier weekends (late September) and the last 2 weekends of Oct are less busy.
* Please Note: Columbus Day weekend is typically the BUSIEST weekend of the year.

What can you do at each location?
Listed below are the activities you can do at each location:
Harbes Family Farm (Mattituck location): barnyard adventure (kids area), pumpkin picking, corn maze, wine barn for wine tastings, glass and bottle purchases, farmstand to purchase Harbes own fresh produce and products
Harbes Farms Jamesport: pumpkin picking, corn maze, and hayride (weekends only)
Harbes Farm and Orchard: apple picking daily and pumpkin picking (open daily for 2020)
Can I bring my pet or emotional support animal?
For health and safety reasons we DO NOT permit pets on our farms. Service dogs specifically trained to aid a person with a disability are welcome.
Can we bring our own food or pack a picnic?
We don’t permit outside food or beverages, but we do offer concessions at all farms for your enjoyment. There is a nearby (1-2 mile) public beach for a picnic- Pier Ave, Jamesport, NY 11947.
Any gluten-free options?
Roasted Corn, Kettle Corn, Candy, and Caramel Apples
Peanut oil is not used in our products, however, we advise carefully looking at any food labels for products you buy. Caramel apples can be bought with or without peanuts.
Outside food in the case of severe allergies.
While our policy is against outside food/beverages, we want you and your loved ones to enjoy your day to the fullest. If a person in your group has special dietary restrictions we recommend eating prior to arrival or, if the rest of the group will eating together, bringing their food discreetly. Please note- coolers and obvious displays of outside food will be addressed by security.
Do you allow buses at the Farms?
Due to parking constraints and guest safety, buses are NOT permitted.
Do you allow buses/limos at the Wine Barn?
We do not take reservations for the Wine Barn, however, we welcome groups and can accommodate them on a first-come-first-served basis. Please call 631-298-WINE for additional wine-related inquiries. Due to COVID-19 we are unable to host groups larger than 10 people at this time.
Do you offer birthday parties?
Starting in 2019, we are offering birthday parties at Harbes Barnyard Adventure in Mattituck. Please email: Harbesbirthdayparties@gmail.com or fill out the form on our website for more information. Due to COVID-19 we are unable to host groups larger than 10 people at this time.
Do you offer private parties?
We don’t offer private parties, but you and your group are welcome to come and enjoy the grounds or activities. We cannot accommodate special seating for groups. Seating is on a first-come/first-served basis. Due to COVID-19 we are unable to host groups larger than 10 people at this time.

Where can I go apple picking?
While we have three farms, ONLY Harbes Farm & Orchard (5698 Sound Ave. Riverhead) currently offers apple picking. General Admission is required for ages 3 and over and includes the cost of apple picking. The Orchard is both wheelchair and stroller accessible.
What varieties of apples do you have?
We have 27 varieties of apples. Please refer to the general ripening schedule to see the list of apples that we grow. Picking is subject to availability and updates are provided regularly on our Facebook page.
When is apple picking season?
For 2020, opening weekend is Labor Day Weekend- 9/5 through October 31st. Please see our Apple Picking page for current information.
